The Sound of Düsseldorf - AUSVERKAUFT!

Düsseldorf has repeatedly produced influential and successful pop music. Since the 1950s, musicians, artists and other creative minds have been meeting in the historic city centre, forming bands and influencing each other. The fact that Düsseldorf also has its fair share of jazz is not only known to those who know. However, few people realise that jazz musicians have always had points of contact with electronic music and rock, and that some of them even became part of well-known punk bands.
So where are the roots of the electronic pioneers of Kraftwerk, where did Die Toten Hosen learn their punk ABC and which DJs play at the world-famous Salon des Amateurs these days?

The pop music tour ‘The Sound of Düsseldorf’ shows legendary clubs and pubs and illustrates how the musical protagonists in the music city of Düsseldorf still work together today and what influence they continue to have on the international music market. The guides, Michael Wenzel and Sven-André Dreyer, are local music journalists who have published the standard work ‘Keine Atempause - Musik aus Düsseldorf’. Of course, the most important songs ‘Made in Düsseldorf’ will also be played along the way.

The tour starts on 8 June 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Dreischeibenhaus (meeting point: Dreischeibenhaus 1, 40211 Düsseldorf) and lasts 150 minutes.
