Adja

Adja is an artist from Brussels who sees music not as a pure concert format, but as a condensed space of voice, language, body and meaning. As a singer, composer and performative narrator, she develops a signature that ranges between jazz, neo-soul, experimental pop and theatre — and consistently finds its own form. Her artistic biography is characterized by movement: studies and projects have taken her through different countries and contexts, from classical education to intensive engagement with sustainable lifestyles and ecological self-sufficiency. For Adja, the question of the “deeper layers” of human feelings — and the power of symbols — is central. This is exactly where their language comes from: a sensual alphabet of sound, smell, movement and text. In her interdisciplinary work Adjabet, chapter I emotional worlds are translated through archetypical colors, rituals and questions — as an attempt to bring the hard to grasp into an experienceable form. With the debut album Golden Retrieve Her It focuses on intimate moments in a capitalist present: relationships, expectations, “sold” hope, conditioned closeness. Her music never remains purely illustrative, but works with breaks, humor, clarity and mysticism at the same time. Live, Adja is an invitation to listen more deeply — and feel more directly at the same time.
