The Sound of Düsseldorf

Influential and successful pop music has been created time and again in Düsseldorf. Since the 1950s, musicians, artists and other creative minds have been meeting, founding bands and influencing each other. It is not only known to experts that Düsseldorf also has a good share of jazz to offer. But few people know that jazz musicians also had points of contact with electronic music and rock time and again, that some of them even became part of well-known punk bands.
So where are they, the roots of Kraftwerk's electronics pioneers, where did Toten Hosen learn their punk ABC and which DJs are playing today in the world-famous Salon des Amateurs?

The pop music tour “The Sound of Düsseldorf” shows legendary clubs and pubs and illustrates how the musical protagonists in the music city of Düsseldorf still work together today and what influence they have time and time again on the international music market. The guides, Michael Wenzel and Sven-André Dreyer, are local music journalists who have published the standard work “Keine Atempause - Musik aus Düsseldorf”. The most important songs “Made in Düsseldorf” will of course also be played along the way.

The tour starts at June 7, 2026 circa 11 o'clock at the Dreischeibenhaus (meeting point: Dreischeibenhaus 1, 40211 Düsseldorf) and lasts 150 minutes.
