Elsa Steixner, born and raised in Vienna, draws a line with her music that combines the sound of jazz and blues tradition with the most intimate facets of singer-songwriting. Musical influences range from Nina Simone and Abdullah Ibrahim to Paul Simon and Prince and set a cornerstone of jazz, folk and RnB from which ELSA's compositions develop. This reappraisal of tradition, combined with a curious and attentive look at the present, gives the music a timelessness without diminishing its relevance.
