“Gute Nacht, Harry!” , the Heine Institute's successful format, is entering the next round with the proven mix of jazz and staged reading. In addition to Heinrich Heine, Robert Schumann, the focus this time is on a second exceptional artistic personality. Finally, Schumann's birthday is also celebrated on June 8, so that it also means “Congratulations Robert! “.
In 1828, the only personal encounter between the two took place in Munich. Heine is already the well-known poet of “travel pictures,” but the 18-year-old Schumann does not yet know what life path he will take. 16 years later, Schumann creates an inimitable combination of poetry and music with his song cycle “Dichterliebe” with Heine's poems.
Actors Jasmin-Nevin Varul and Victor Maria Diderich present entertaining texts written by Heine and Schumann. The six-person jazz ensemble from the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf under the direction of Paul von Chamier accompanies the recitation with lively, sometimes melancholy jazz sounds.
