Yet very few people know the roots of this music, which conquered the dance floors of major cities in this country 100 years ago. How did jazz come to Germany? Why were swing kids deported to forced camps and jazz musicians even to concentration camps? What made jazz break through after the war? What significance does it have for young jazz musicians today?
