Kazdoura

Kazdoura — “go for a walk” in colloquial Arabic — says it all: This music moves, discovers, connects and invites you to stroll between worlds. Created in Toronto from the encounter between Syrian singer Leen Hamo and Lebanese multi-instrumentalist John Abou Chacra, a spontaneous project quickly became a fixed, unique musical language. What began as a musical experiment has developed into one of the most exciting acts that combine Arab heritage with global present.
At its core is a connection that is both familiar and surprising: traditional and contemporary Arabic music meets psychedelia, funk and soul. The songs have a vintage-inspired psych-soul atmosphere, in which deep grooves meet shimmering melodies. Leen's voice — ornamental, powerful, emotional — remains central: She sings in Syrian Arabic and gives each piece an unmistakable warmth and urgency.
The debut album Ghoyoum (2025) marks an important step and stands for a sound that doesn't preserve nostalgia, but thinks ahead. Kazdoura see themselves as a cultural bridge: They honor roots without establishing them — and open up a space in which tradition and experiment work together rather than against each other. Live, this creates a magnetic mix of rhythm, feeling and movement.
